About NWest Energy

NWest Energy Inc. was formed to participate in the upstream oil and gas business, primarily in Eastern Canada along the west coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. The strategy of the corporation is to add shareholder value through the acquisition, exploration and development of oil and gas properties. The Corporation has begun an exploration program in Western Newfoundland, commencing with a 3D seismic program in Q3 2008, with the view of discovering oil and gas reserves that can be brought to the market.

In the Fall of 2006, NWest Energy retained the specialized services of Sproule Associates Limited (Sproule) to undertake a technical review and valuation of NWest’s exploration licenses. The principal objectives were to interpret the seismic and conduct a resource assessment of the company’s blocks. The location of the holdings are presented in Figures 1 and 2. Figure 1 illustrates the relative location of NWest’s holdings while Figure 2 provides a more detailed overview of NWest’s holdings.

In total, Sproule identified 155 prospects and leads ranging from 253 to 15,685 acres. After further reviewing the geophysical anomalies, Sproule selected the largest, best defined and, where possible, stacked (co-incident) prospects on each of NWest’s blocks. In Sproule’s opinion, these represented the structures most likely to be drilled during exploration of the blocks. In total, 11 non-contingent, separate targets were identified, most of which involved stacked target reservoirs, presenting multiple chances of success. In all, some 49 target reservoirs were identified. Using the Swanson’s Mean value for these anomalies of approximately 75 million barrels (OOIP) per structure, Sproule calculated about 3.8 billion barrels (OOIP) across the four offshore blocks. These offshore licenses have never been drilled and the resource estimate is of undiscovered resources with no certainty that any of the resources will be discovered, recovered or developed.
